MUMBAI: Along with Karishma-The Miracles of Destiny, another serial Sahib Biwi Gulam, from the Sahara bandwagon bites the dust.
Another star-studded affair heads for doomsville. Or, so it seems. Look's like Sahara’s tryst with the silver screen stars has not gone down well with the masses. Along with
Karishma-The Miracles of Destiny, (with Karisma Kapoor playing the lead) the latest we hear is that Raveena Thadani nee Tandon’s small screen debut Sahib Biwi Gulam is to be shunted out of the programming list because of its dismal ratings. The serial was essentially based on a novel by Bimal Mitra, and had Raveena Tandon, playing the neglected bahu of the feudal Bengali household.
While Karisma Kapoor is thinking of returning to films (Vicky Kumar was toying with the idea of signing her for Choodiyan), we wonder what Raveena will do now.
Who knows, both could even settle for motherhood a la Madhuri Dixit. But we pray that they decide fast. We don't want them to go the Dixit way- sign a couple of films, go the family way and leave film producers in the lurch.
Cut to Sahib Biwi Gulam- sources reveal that the show will not be pulled off unceremoniously. When quizzed, Sahara's programming vice president Triptii Sharma said that the show, contrary to perception, will end logically. “After completing 104 episodes, the story will come to its conclusive end on 23 September,” she said.
Has it really reached its conclusive end? Or is it being summed up? We leave it to you, dear viewer, to figure this one out.
