Pujarini Ghosh plays student-cum-escort in Orko Sinha's next Sirajer Angti

The young and talented Pujarini Ghosh has bagged a pivotal role in director Orko Sinha’s next Sirajer Angti. She will be essaying the role of an escort in this dark comedy.

Talking about her role in the flick, she said to Tellychakkar.com, “The story revolves around four people and I am playing one of the key characters. I am enacting Shilpa, who is an MA first year student of Calcuta University. She works as an escort but that’s by her choice because she doesn’t believe in hypocrisy. She is asked for sexual favours wherever she goes. So, one fine day she thought if this is what everyone wants from her then why not take it up professionally.”

“She gets involved in this entire episode where a very precious ring of Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah gets stolen from the Indian museum. Next, she meets a guy who is a famous film star and their love story develops as a parallel track,” she added with a smile.

When quizzed what made her give a nod to this project, the Postmaster and Kolkata Calling fame actress quipped, “After reading the script, I felt that this one didn’t look like a typical Bolly remake. There are fresh moments and it is a roller coaster ride. It has dialogues where you will almost roll on the floor laughing and they are not the WhatsApp forwards or jokes we come across on Facebook. The comedy is fresh.”

The Bengali film also stars Manali Dey, Saurav Palodhi, Sourav Das and senior actors like Biswanath Basu, Mir, Neel Mukherjee, Shantilal Mukherjee and Kamalika Banerjee.

When asked to define the pros and cons of working with established actors, she opined, “The best part of working with senior actors is that you get to learn a lot on the sets. You brush shoulders with actors you have grown up admiring. Working with such people in the same film is like a dream come true. The scary part is that you need to be well prepared all the time because there is always performance pressure, which helps to improve your work in the end though.”

I already got the opportunity to work with Biswanath Da in a telefilm I did long back. But with Neel da, Mir, Kamalika di and Shanti da, it was my first time. I am super excited,” she added with enthusiasm.

The shooting of the film will begin from March.
