It's time to struggle once again: Yash Dasgupta

The TV heartthrob, Yash Dasgupta, if media reports are to be believed, is gearing up to act in movies. Tellychakkar.com caught up with the actor where he talked about his views on the same, the kind of films he would like to do and the actress he would like to romance on screen. Excerpts.

Heard that you will concentrate more on films now…

One thing I hate as well as love about myself is that whenever I am in my comfort zone, someone within me wants to come out of it. I am the number one hero in TV, make the most money in TV, but still I want to step out of it and struggle. Its time to struggle once again. Films are different ball games altogether, but am loving the challenge.

You alongside Ritwik Chakraborty had debuted in the film called Pagol Premi, way back in 2006-07. While he has long been acting in films, you have focused more on TV soaps. Weren't you interested in films?

Yeah, well I wouldn't call that my first film. I was staying in Mumbai at that time and had got a call from Hara Pattanaik. As I was free for sometime, I came down to Kolkata and did the film. Once it was done, I returned to Mumbai as my family was staying there. I was pretty happy working in Mumbai. Whatever I have achieved so far is due to my experience of working with veterans of the Mumbai TV industry like Ram Kapoor, Ronit Roy. Today, I am ready and whatever (film) I will be doing is going to be my debut.

Considering your talent and massive popularity, don’t you feel that Tollywood took some time to recognize your potential to be a film hero?

Well, to be honest, I never considered TV any smaller than films so I would say ‘no’. TV has made me more popular than many film stars… I will be doing films with the same people with whom I work in serials. My relationship with Shree Venkatesh films isn’t professional, its more personal. Money can’t buy me, emotions can and that’s the bond I share with them.

Which kind of films would you like to work in?? The directors you would like to work with…

I would love to do any film with a good script. I believe the script should be the hero. As far as the directors are concerned, I am happy to work with anyone SVF will ask me to, because I have tremendous faith on my producers and vice versa.

Have you signed for any film?

Talks are on.

Who are your favourite contemporary actors?

Well, that would be Angelina Jolie.

In Tollywood?

None.

Who according to you are the hottest actresses and fittest actors?

Hottest for me will be Deepika (Padukone) and fittest are Hrithik (Roshan) and Vidyut (Jammwal).

Which actresses would you like to romance on screen?

Still looking for that actress. Yeah, if I could rewind time then I would have loved to work with Suchitra Sen (winks).

Last question: Once you start acting in films, will you bid a permanent adieu to TV serials?

Life is unpredictable and TV has given me a lot till date. So, if I get a good opportunity I would love to come back and do serials.

Good luck Yash!!
