Shubho Nobo Borsho: Bengali TV actors share their childhood memories

Shubho Nobo Borsho

Poila Boisakh is a special occasion for every Bengali. We all have our own share of childhood memories revolving around this special day. Tellychakkar.com caught up with a few Bengali TV actors to know what this occasion mean to them and their memories. Read on.

Gaurab: I love to spend quality time with my family on Poila Baishakh. I love to put on new clothes and try delicious dishes. We have fond memories of our childhood, when our father used to surprise us on this particular day of every year. I vividly remember how he once surprised me and my brother with a brand new bike on a Poila Boishakh. We were ecstatic to say the least. I rode the pillion to my brother in the bike. I was only 10 or 11 years old.

Amrita Chattopadhyay: I have my birthday just two days after our Nobo Borsho. Thus, it has always been very special to me. Celebration starts from Poila Boishakh itself. The food, the books, the new cloths add to the enjoyment.

Rajib Basu: Nabo Borsho is very close to my heart. Most of my school friends were either Marwari or Gujarati. I had grown up in a non Bengali environment. I used to eagerly wait for such special Bengali days, where I could enjoy all 'Bangla' things like Bengali music, traditional Bengali dresses and quintessential Bengali delicacies. I used to wait eagerly for this day more as a kid, as I used to get anything that I demanded from my elder brothers or sisters.

Jasmine Roy: Poila Boishakh means Halkhata  (opening of new accounts book in companies) to me. I have always seen my mother going for Halkhata. However, now a days, I do not get much chance to go there, but I do get a lot of sweets.

Sheikh Rezwan Rabbani:  On Nobo Borsho I promise to myself that I will remain disciplined in the coming year as well. I wish the New Year would be great for me as well as for the people surrounding me. During my school days, my father would pamper me with lots of sweets and chocolates on this day.

Sweta Bhattacharya: Whenever we talk about Poila Boishakh, the first thing that comes to my mind is Halkhata. On this day, the shop owners beautifully decorate their shops. I usually buy a new thing on this day. After all it’s the Bengali New Year. New dresses, yummy dishes rule the day...

Happy Nobo Borsho
