Four prime time Star shows to go off air?

If you thought that only Sahara is getting (in)famous for pulling off shows midway, think again. Reliable sources inform us that Star Plus is keen to take at least three shows off air. Mind you, biggies! Monday's Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand. Tuesday's Kehta Hai Dil. Wednesday's Sanjivani- A Medical Boon. Thursday's Saara Akaash may just about escape. But the channel has a problem. They don't have shows which are ready to replace these. Even if they have one or two, as our sources say, Star wouldn't go ahead with those immediately.

They don't have shows which are ready to replace these. Even if they have one or two, as our sources say, Star wouldn't go ahead with those immediately. Reason? Diwali-X'mas-New Year is the peak time to garner advertising revenue. And advertisers are not too keen to endorse brand new shows. Sanjivani- A Medical Boon for instance has a storyline for another 12 to 15 episodes. Beyond that kuch bhi ho sakta hai. The inside information is that the actors have been told indirectly that it's going to be curtains in another 80-90 days. The show might even take a break for two months and come back in a new avatar (though that is a remote possibility) with Dr Juhi (Gurdip Kohli) and Dr Rahul (Mihir Mishra) in senior positions in the hospital. Will the two young doctors be asked to don whiteners then? Would they agree? Your guess is as good as ours. Sphere Origins is not too happy with the fact that they are paying Sangita Ghosh a bomb for agreeing to come back on Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand. Her reappearance has not made a marked difference to the TRPs, crib insiders. Kehta Hai Dil has gone completely haywire. The ratings of these three shows are nowhere near to what they registered once upon a time. Star has recently announced a massive line up of new shows for the new season, post Diwali. Kaal Chakra, Millie, Hello Dolly-- the list is impressive. Does that spell the death knell for existing shows? Watch this space.
