Read a detailed insightful interview of the talented Manav Gohil.
Manav Gohil

Manav Gohil is blessed with inherent acting talent akin to a chameleon. He continuous to astound all with his versatile acting prowess.

He has amassed one accolade after another with his hit TV shows namely Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Saara Akaash, The Buddy Project, Yam Hain Hum and many more.

Manav has always managed to hit a sweet spot in audience’s heart each time. He is definitely getting stronger with every new project.

In a heart-to-heart conversation with us, Manav spoke about his journey on TV, fatherhood, wife Shweta (Kawatra), reality shows and more. Read on:

Firstly, tell us what is keeping you busy these days?

Well, for the first time, I am producing and directing a music video with a USA friend Jash who has sung and Abhishek Rey has composed the music. I am quite kicked about the project.

Do you think you have got your due as an actor?

I agree that I am not an ‘A’ list actor but I have lot of gratitude where I stand. I have given 100 percent to each character. The fifteen years in the television industry have been tremendous. Every day I learn something new and I have desire to deliver more. I am not able to bag Bollywood project but I am sure that will also happen soon.

Do you think only good looking actors get opportunities to play leads?

I have not seen the new lot of actors on TV. The most important aspect is script. I can’t consider myself as a chocolaty boy. I am the guy next door. Hence, according to the storyline, actors get finalized.

Do you think an actor's life is very uncertain and they should have a backup plan?

Yes, very much. If you dream to settle down and have a family, you need to have a backup plan.

Have you ever gone to producers to seek work?

Never, I think that’s the biggest drawback about me. I am a very shy person. More than a decade ago, I had attended a high-profile party where I happened to see a senior actor asking for work. It did amaze me but later I realized that asking work from producers is not at all a bad thing. At one time, even Amitabh Bachcan had to go to Yash Chopra for a role. Right now, I am blessed but in the future, I might call producers for opportunities.

How do you see your journey in the showbiz?

My journey has been very exciting. I have seen my share of struggles and challenges. There was a time when I had no money to fill fuel or pay my rent. But everyone comes with a certain destiny. I still remember the days when I managed to bag my first TV show Chudiya. I had actually written poetry on the back of my picture and later dropped the picture in the office of casting guys. Poetry showed my desperation for the role. Thankfully, I got the project as I had fire in me to prove myself.

Any fear in life?

The biggest fear I have is what if I am not able to provide a good life to my family.

Movie plans?

I have few regional film offers so I might consider them.

What is that one thing that has kept you and Shweta together?

One thing we all should understand is that we are not perfect. Shweta and I have also had our ups and downs but when you know you have to be with your partner till the end of your life, nothing can come in the way of being with each other.

Any life changing moment?

When Zahra came into my life.

Second baby plan?

We both are very happy with Zahra so we haven’t planned for a second baby yet.

Do reality shows excite you?

I am very picky when it comes to reality shows. I am a boring kind of a person to participate in show likes Bigg Boss. I won’t give masala to viewers. I would love to do dance and adventurous shows.

Good luck, Manav!
