Prenuptial contracts are in trend. Here's what TV celebs have to say about it

TV celebs talk about prenuptial contracts

Minutes before you sign your marriage contracts, there is something else that you need to agree on..

A prenup, as it is popularly called, gives you the liberty to decide on how your relationship and equation with your partner would be, especially in case of a divorce/separation.

From jotting down details of who will contribute how much in terms of financial, household and parenting, responsibilities to details of alimony and post separations are also defined.

It might be a rage in the west, is it as popular here as well?

We asked some of our favourite TV stars for their take on this…

Rohan Gandotra:

I sort of agree and disagree to prenuptial agreements. It does sort out things between couples and thus increases love. Also, if they get separated, there is no burden on either of them. But on the other hand, if a couple has a kid, then things might get troublesome. I think one needs to have a mutual agreement on how the child’s upbringing will be taken care of.

Nikita Dutta:

Prenuptial contracts might be great at sorting issues in a married life. But I don't believe in the idea. Since marriage isn't something that you can bind by contracts…Probably then you shouldn’t just get married!

Shravan Reddy:

I definitely have a mixed opinion if one should practice prenuptial contract or not. But looking at the rise of divorces these days, I believe it’s better to be safe than making life a mess with complications cropping out of  non- compatibility , fidelity and many other issues that could come up post marriage. The contracts can also cut down an individual’s vested interest for their partner’s wealth.

Ridhima Pandit:

I don't believe in prenups as before a union can take place there are talks of discord. Marriages have suddenly become contractual which I don't agree to.

Sehban Azim:

I don't have much knowledge about it but I think till the time it's not mandatory it’s cool. Prenuptial contracts should depend on couples and each one should have the liberty to add and deduct pointers accordingly.

Pooja Bannerjee:

Well it's interesting to know that we have an option to form a prenuptial contract. I will want that kitchen work to be divided between the partners and taking care of the children as well (laughs). But yes, I think if there is trust and endless love, you don't even need words to take care of one’s married life. Because if there is no trust, no rules can make a marriage work.
