Bareilly Ki Barfi tells the tale of Bitti (played by Kriti Sanon) who is a misfit, rebel and a trouble-maker. She is always against the conservative norms set by the family.
Bitti is dead against her parents’ wish to settle down. Enter Ayushmann Khurana (Chirah Dubey) who loves her surreptitiously but is unable to share his feelings, he takes the help of Rajkumar Rao to win her over but she falls for him instead. The premise of the story is age-old like the city in which the story is set but perhaps this time with Rajkummar Rao’s acting dexterity and Ashwini Iyer Tiwari (Nil Battey Sannata fame) in control of the director’s reins, there could be a new take on the decrepit fable.
Kriti who was last seen in Raabta is playing a bratty UP girl which is like a titanic change for her. She has big dreams, break dances, watches English movies and doesn’t shy away from talking about virginity. Bitti embarks on a journey to look for the writer of Bareilly Ki Barfi after it strikes a chord with her and she begins believing that the author is perhaps the only person on the surface of this earth who understands her.
The trailer of the film is full of unique traits of its lead and it promises a fun film. The 3 minute video has a quick pace and looks to be author-backed. Bareilly Ki Barfi will hit screens on August 18, 2017
