Jisshu thanks Parambrata for sacrificing a role

KOLKATA: Actor Jisshu Sengupta says that the story of Sonar Pahar is close to his heart as through this film he could relive his life.

“The story of Sonar Pahar is close to my heart. I relived my life again,” said Jisshu to media at the trailer launch of the film which was held recently in Kolkata.

The relationship between a mother and her son, which crosses various dimensions and ups and lows, plays a crucial role in the upcoming Bengali film Sonar Pahar, which has been helmed by actor-director Parambrata Chattopadhyay. Jisshu is essaying the role of the son while veteran Bollywood actress Tanuja will be seen as his mother.

“For me, this film is a journey. I have been through this journey so I know. I relived my life again. I won’t say the entire story was my story but I relived my life in bits and pieces with Maa. When Param narrated the story to me, at the end I had tears in my eyes. The climax that I played in the film I wish I had that climax in my personal life. But before anything such could happen in my life, my mother left us (in 2008) but thanks to Param that I could relive my life, my moments with my mother,” added the actor.

Parambrata was supposed to play the character that Jisshu has played in the film but the former sacrificed for the latter.

Appreciating Parambrata, Jisshu said, “Param gave me two options and I did not even take a fraction of second to decide which character I wanted to play. I told him that I would like to play the role of the son.  He smiled because he knew I would choose that role.”

“He was supposed to play this role but being a friend he sacrificed. Thank you, Param, for giving me this opportunity. I also thank Tanuja aunty for accepting this film,” added the actor.

Jisshu concluded saying, “This film is an emotional journey of a lot of people- a child, a mother, a son and a friend. Especially, the sons will be able to relate to this film as they might find some sort of relevance with this.”
