‘Love Sonia' inspires a man to help trafficked girls monetarily
After watching Love Sonia, a film that delves into the global problem of the flesh trade, a person from Mumbai donated Rs 8 lakh for helping trafficked girls.
Actress Richa Chadha plays a sex worker in the film that released last week.
She has been receiving emails and letters from NGO workers who work with victims of trafficking, a few victims themselves.
One such message that caught Richa's eye was from a friend, Priyanka Halli who is the Chief Medical Officer of an organization which helps children rescued from trafficking.
She expressed her gratitude to Richa to help create awareness through films like Love Sonia. After watching the film, a leader of a firm in Mumbai made a generous donation to the organization to help them in their efforts.
"This is the reason we do what we do as actors. A lot of press asked me why I agreed to do a supporting role in a film. But after my friend, who helps raise funds for trafficked girls and women, it made me realize that it's sometimes compassion that drives us as artists," Richa said in a statement.
Halli said filmmaker Tabrez Noorani's Love Sonia is a painfully realistic portrayal of one girl's story.
"After the movie premiered in Mumbai, we received a generous contribution of Rs 8 lakh from the leader of a local business who said that the movie helped him understand why EmancipAction's trauma care intervention is so important for these children," she added.
When Badshah left everything for Arjun Kapoor
Rapper Badshah, who was busy with his album "ONE" (Original Never Ends), says that he "dropped everything" to do a song for Arjun Kapoor's film.
"Arjun wanted a song with me and I dropped everything to make it happen," Badshah said in a statement.
The song "Bhare bazaar" from Arjun's forthcoming film Namaste England released on Tuesday and has already received 6,675,386 views on YouTube.
"I was deep into making my album when I began working on 'Bhare bazaar' with Rishi Rich. We had a blast on the set," said Badshah.
His album, consisting of 17 tracks, has also been received well.
"I had a lot of songs and I wanted all of them to be heard by people. There are few love songs, sad songs, songs about my life... primarily about different emotions," Badshah had told a leading publication.
Talking about his musical journey which found space in his album, he said, "I don't have an MBA, I don't have a qualification in music, but I am doing both -- business and music -- and I am doing quite well. So it's about how I have been able to come here."
Producing any film never easy: Siddharth Roy Kapur
Film producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, who is backing an upcoming movie on the life of Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma, says producing a film -- irrespective of its genre -- is never an easy task.
Kapur was interacting with the media at a special screening of Malayalam film Ranam here on Tuesday.
On reports that actor Shah Rukh Khan will start shooting for Mahesh Mathai's directorial Salute -- the Rakesh Sharma biopic -- Kapur said, "We should be starting it quite soon. It's all on track but I will prefer to make an official announcement."
Asked about the challenges of making a biopic, Kapur said, "I think producing any film is never easy because there are always different considerations when it comes to different movies and especially in a biopic, because you have to be true to the life of a person and you can't take liberty in making something completely different from his actual life.
"It also gives you a chance to be able to tell a true story of heroism. There are lots of unsung heroes that we have in our country who deserve a biopic on their life.
"There are many heroes in India other than those in sports, cinema, and politics... So, we should look at a lot of inspirations when it comes to movies that you want to make."
On the trend of biopics in Hindi cinema, Kapur said, "I think it's always important to see the quality of a film. So, regardless of whether it's a biopic or a horror film or a comedy film or an action film, if it is a good film, it is going to run.
So, I don't think that there is a trend of biopics, but yes, there have been many successful ones of late, and very often people tend to gravitate towards making those films much more."

Despite being highest first-day opener of 2018 in terms of box-office collection, Race 3 was mocked by film critics and the common audience went one step ahead by creating memes and jokes on social networking sites about film's bad screenplay, dialogues, acting, music, action sequences, and direction.
It was not able to do desired business at the box-office despite having huge star cast and budgets, when asked Remo what went wrong with the film, he said, "As a director, I feel bad because I wasn't able to take that film to a landmark where I have imagined before starting a film.
"At the same time, I think whatever responsibility had given to me, I tried to do my level best to make that film better and I did everything as per my capability."
Remo feels that audience was the biggest deciding factor of the film, "Entire team of the film worked hard but I also think the audience is the major deciding factor who determines success or failure of the film."
When asked Remo whether he feels directing a film is a challenging task, he said, "Yes…when your film features big actors but as a director, you have to deal with those challenges otherwise you will not be able to do directly."
Remo has choreographed many films and also directed films like Any Body Can Dance series, Flying Jatt and Race 3, when asked Remo what will be his focus in future, he said, "I am keener towards directing a film because I know that if I will be directing a film then I will choreograph all songs of that film so of course, right now direction is all on my mind but I will not quit dance choreography because it is my first love."
When asked Remo about his next project, he said, "My next is a dance film which will go on floors very soon."
Remo D'Souza next directorial will be a 3D dance film which will feature Varun Dhawan, Katrina Kaif and Prabhu Deva in lead roles. The untitled film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.
