Ulka Gupta prefers books over powder

She came, she saw and she conquered your TV screens as the young Rani Laxmi Bai aka Manu in Zee TV’s Jhansi Ki Rani. But after that the child actor Ulka Gupta hasn’t hogged the limelight at all. A brief appearance on reality shows is all that Ulka has given her diehard fans. Though she was approached for the role of Ginni in DJ’s A Creative Unit’s Parvarrish-Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi, she was replaced at the last minute without being informed. And from what Tellychakkar.com hears, Ulka’s future appearance will be limited too. Incidentally, Ulka is a student of tenth standard and will be appearing for her board exams very soon. And her parents, like any other, want her to concentrate on her studies. “I do want Ulka to continue with her acting career but not at the cost of her studies,” says a concerned Gagal Gupta, Ulka’s father. But he doesn’t stop her from giving auditions, “Because even Ulka needs her space,” he adds. And Ulka doesn’t seem to mind it. “Acting is in my blood but I have my boards so I have to think about my studies as well,” reveals Ulka.
