It's Smriti all the way for Aashka

Aashka Goradia is on cloud nine. After Smriti's Virrudh on Sony, the pretty actress has bagged a plum role in Mere Apne on 9X. Happy with this arrangement she wants to stay on with Ugraya Entertainment (Smriti's production company) for some time now. We caught her in a very cheerful and upbeat mood. We slowly discover it is her birthday. Tellychakkar wishes her a great year. In the interview that follows Aashka chats up issues close to her heart.

"I play the role of Saniya in Mere Apne. It's an important character and it feels great to work with such huge stars like Smritiji and Vinodji," says Aashka. Elaborating on her role she continues, "Saniya is a doctor from America who marries Aditya (Amit Jain). Aditya has not revealed about their relationship to his parents. Now the current track focuses on Aditya. He is getting engaged to some other girl and then there is a twist in the tale. There is a lot of drama happening in the show. I can't reveal much but yes in the end I'll be able to win over Kashinath (Vinod Khanna), Aditya's father." Is there any similarity between Saniya and Aashka? "There is only one similarity that both of them have a man in their lives who cannot disclose anything about the relationship to their respectively families," says Aaksha laughingly. "Though now I'm out of my previous relationship and it does not bother me any more. I'm very much single," she adds. Has Aashka closed her doors to other production houses? "No, I'm open to work with different production houses but as of now I want to stick to Ugraya as the environment is really good and it makes me feel happy. I don't want to jump form one production house to another." And as a happy Aashka flits between author-backed roles in Virrudh and Mere Apne one hopes she continues to always sift the grain from the chaff.
