Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actress Shivangi Joshi's debut film to release not in Cannes but on OTT

Popular television actress Shivangi Joshi's debut film will be releasing not in Cannes but on OTT.

MUMBAI: According to a leading entertainment portal, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actress Shivangi Joshi's debut film will release not in Cannes but on OTT.

In January, there were reports that Shivangi Joshi will make her Cannes debut this year. The actress had shot for a film Our Own Sky, slated to release in Cannes- but it seems her dream of walking the prestigious red carpet is crushed, at least for now. No thanks to Covid2019 which is showing no signs of abating, Cannes Festival is not happening this year and the makers of the film in question have now decided to release it on OTT, whenever it is ready. The streaming platform is yet to be finalised, though.

Besides Shivangi, Aditya Khurana and South actress Asifa Haque are playing important parts in the film. The film's producer Mohammed Nagaman Lateef said, "People would have got to see only photos of Shivangi, Aditya and Asifa maybe if we'd gone to Cannes. The film would have never got screens here like Hina Khan's Lines did. So now our POA is to re-edit the film and make it to a length of about 45 minutes, so that it is suited for OTT."

But Asifa is quite disappointed. "I feel bad because it was for Cannes. Of course, there are valid reasons but we had worked very hard; I just hope that people appreciate it."

However, Aditya who's going to be seen opposite Shivangi, said, "I feel it's good thing that OOS going to release online. I am sure it will be a good hit. It has a kind of content that has been never shown on OTT."
