Navya fans fighting to retain the show

Television viewers, these days, are not just a mass who are ready to accept the decisions made by the broadcasters. In fact, they are ready to fight for their rights as viewers. Television viewers, these days, are not just a mass who are ready to accept the decisions made by the broadcasters. In fact, they are ready to fight for their rights as viewers. And the best example for this is the loyal fan following of Chandragupta Maurya (Imagine TV) that succeeded in getting the show back from the dead on Sony Entertainment Television; though the final verdict is still left. The latest is that, fans of Navya are trying their best to retain Swastik Pictures’ love story on Star Plus. In fact, there is a Facebook page called ‘Save Navya For Peaceful Life’ wherein fans have been posting messages to save the show since the last 12 or more days now. For the uninitiated, this Shaheer Sheikh (Anant) and Soumya Seth (Navya) starrer soap will be going off air on 29 June 2012. Coming back to the campaign, the group has been sending mails, making calls and tweeting to save the show. They are really adamant to retain it. They are even reasoning with the channel as far as the time slot of the show is concerned. Divya, an ardent fan from Kolkata sent us letters (which she also has mailed to the Star Plus office). In the letters, she has stated that the 6 pm slot does not work in favour of the show and since the last three months, the channel had neither telecast a maha episode, nor have they gone ahead and promoted it in anyway. “Under such circumstances, the TRPs are bound to dip”, she pointed out. Says lead actor Shaheer Sheikh on the development, “All I can say is that we will be back with another show together and continue to entertain the audience. After all, every good thing has to come to an end but I appreciate the ones who are tweeting and Facebooking for us.”
