Hats Off Productions’ Byaah Humari Bahu Ka on Sony Entertainment Television (which started on 28 May 2012) has not opened to good numbers, and it looks as though the channel might not be able to give much time to the show if it does not fare better in the coming days.
The inside news is that the serial has been placed under the scanner by the channel and if the numbers do not improve in quick time, it might end in the near future.
However, one of our sources argued that “the main crux of the story, that is the remarriage of the bahu has not opened up yet, and I don’t think the show is ending anytime before the main story starts.”
When contacted, producer J D Majethia said, “The ratings have increased with respect to the time spent (moved from 0.4 to 0.5 as per this week’s ratings), and frankly speaking, the slot at which it is placed (8 pm) is a tough one with competition from other shows coming in. However, the increase in rating has motivated us and the channel is gung-ho about the show’s future. It is not ending now, it is a rumour.”
For the uninitiated, J D Majethia in his earlier interview with Tellychakkar.com had said that “We hastened the marriage of Krish to Rajnibala to up the TRPs. We originally had planned to show the marriage later.”
Gaurav Khanna, the lead of the show said, “Stories have changed before, so there is no big deal. We are on track”.
Shrenu Parekh, the female lead, shared with Tellychakkar.com, “Things went wrong initially, but we are now back on track. I don’t know when we will hit upon the main story, but as of now we are focusing on the romantic track. We are working hard as a unit, and the ratings have picked up. Even the popular show Pratigya began with low ratings, but soon got better.”
We tried to get in touch with Sneha Rajani, Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television, but could not get any revert.
As for Sony, they have two fiction shows in Shri Adhikari Brothers’ Adhoori Kahaani and Sphere Origin’s Humsafar to launch soon. In addition to this, the channel has to make way for their big ticket show Kaun Banega Crorepati too at a prime time slot.
Let’s see if Byaah Humari Bahu Ka can manage to gain in numbers with time and survive the battle of shows…
