Anything can happen in a reality show: Naman Shaw

Naman Shaw was one of the first success stories of a reality show. Being one of the most popular and topmost finalists of Zee Cinestar Ki Khoj, Naman shot to fame after the reality show with his dreamy eyes and boyish looks. The immensely successful role of Nakul in Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi augmented his popularity in a geometric progression. But, unfortunately, after that the young actor from Kolkata seems to have got entangled in a series of reality shows, fights and unsuccessful performances. Tellychakkar managed to speak to the actor briefly on his defeat in Nach Baliye 4, future plans and life in general. Excerpts from the interview. You seemed to be very upset at losing in the finals of Nach Baliye... Well...anyone would be disappointed at coming so close to victory and letting it pass by. But I am not upset at losing to Daljit and Shaleen. Anything can happen in a reality show -- this is the lesson I have learned right in the first reality show I participated in (Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj). I sometimes feel we peaked before the grand finale. The last five performances we gave were much better than what we did in the finals. We had got extremely positive vibes from the judges and even the audience. Somehow, things went a bit wrong in the finals. But this year Nach Baliye failed to weave the magic it did in the last few years... I would not like to comment on this question. The audience opinion is that most of the couples dancing in this season were not so hot. Do you agree? We have to accept something that every year the same jodis -- no matter how popular they are -- cannot participate. This is a show based on real life partners and you cannot create new real life partners every year, right? You and Megha seemed to have created a fantastic pair on screen. Tell us something about you two. (smiles) To be honest, we fell in love just before Nach Baliye and we were really looking forward to this show. We met at a dance show on television and started liking each other. We really liked the quality time we could spend with each other on the sets of Nach Baliye. Believe it or not, till date we have never proposed to each other. It is just a feeling which both of us have for each other. We owe a lot to Nach Baliye to give us the exposure and the lovely time. I think both of us are much improved performers after the show. Megha just underwent a small laser surgery on her eyes. Unfortunately, it was on Valentine's Day. But thanks to all your good wishes she is fine now and can get rid of her glasses. What are your future plans? Any new serial coming up? Frankly speaking, I am confused. I really do not know whether to do films or television. I will be doing a film being jointly produced by Balaji Telefilms and Popcorn Films. The shooting for it is scheduled to start in April. I also have a few offers from Bengali films and I will decide on them within a week or two. I am also keen on doing something good on television. Currently we are busy with our stage shows.
