After a long wait, Balaji Motion Pictures’ Vidya Balan-starrer The Dirty Picture will be shown on TV on 26 August (2012) on Sony Entertainment Television. Though we could not get in touch with Sony senior executive vice president and business head Sneha Rajani, she tweeted, “It will be showcased twice in the day once at 12 p.m. and then at 8:30 p.m. not post 11 pm.” "We are very elated that finally our National award-winning film will make it to TV screens," said Balaji Motion Pictures head of acquisition and distribution Girish Johar. The Dirty Picture was earlier declared inappropriate for primetime TV viewing by the information and broadcasting ministry. The film has since then been further edited and has now been given the green signal for telecast. Defending the cuts, Sneha further tweeted, “Now the furore over the cuts! Yes, 11 mins have been cut/muted. Finally what remains of the film is 2 hours and 11minutes. The essence of the story remains (sic).” “And if u have issues with the cuts, contact the authorities and not us. We are merely law abiding Broadcasters,” she further remarked. The film, incidentally, won Balan her first National Award for best actress for her portrayal of a film actress who goes through the process of rise and fall in life. The film also features Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor.
