Apna time aayega, says Kettan Singh

MUMBAI : Who doesn't know Kettan Singh? Be it his "Janhit Mein Jaari" on YouTube, or "Munna Mummy" on Instagram or his three-in-one avatar in "Shankar Jaikishan 3 in 1", the actor has made us laugh with his rib-tickling comedy. But he doesn't want to limit himself only to comedy. He revealed that he has been auditioning for various roles and says "Apna time aayega" and the universe will conspire to make it happen. "I am an actor, and comedy is just a genre that I have explored. Since I started with comedy, I keep getting offers for that. But if you see, my Marathi film 'Vicky Velingkar', the character that I played was grey, then even my show 'Shankar Jaikishan 3 in 1', my character had various shades. I never wanted to limit myself. I keep giving auditions. I am doing my part, and the universe is at play. I am just waiting for the right opportunity, and I keep telling myself 'Apna time aayega'. I have given an audition for a negative character, and I have given an audition for a man who is 50 plus, so let's see where it all goes." he said.  Well, he also keeps his fans entertained with various jokes and imitation videos that he posts on social media. When asked what comedy means to him, he said, "Comedy is an escape route from things that are happening, but at the same time it shouldn't disconnect you from the world. I would also like to mention that comedy is different for everyone. But that goes for any creative field because it's all subjective. There is no right or wrong in it."

"Satire is something that gives a very strong message and is fun too. So all these comedians today, the kind of content they are making, it has a strong message in it and I believe in that kind of comedy," he added. Kettan feels that the comedy industry in India is evolving. Though he mentioned that the genre has its limitations on TV, he is hopeful that with time it will change.

"Comedy industry thrives globally. It always evolves. You can use a punch once, but you can't use it now and then. I think in India, the comedy on digital platforms has evolved a lot, but on television, it's still somewhere stuck because there are limitations. I am sure it will change in the coming time. The kind of comedians we have, be it TV or films, they are at a different level, so I am sure it will evolve. All in all, I can say the comedy scene in India is pretty good." he signed off.
