It’s the Gods and the kids that have taken Zee TV to the top!! Wondering what we are talking about? As you know, Zee TV as per the recent TAM ratings has surpassed Star Plus in numbers to become the #1 GEC.
The channel’s weekend programming has a direct effect on the surge in ratings. The dance reality show DID L’il Masters which unearths the talent of the kids has become a ‘success story’ as far as the channel goes, what with their ratings soaring high and high with every passing week. The icing on the cake was a phenomenal 8.0 TVR for the finale of DID L’il Masters. Three cheers to you, kids!! Job well done.
After taking a look at the kids’ show, let us now talk on yet another smart move by the channel!! Well, the Gods are pleased let us say, with the return of Ramayan. And the channel has cashed in brilliantly on the slot of 11 am on Sunday morning. The opening week’s ratings (2.7) that the epic show produced by Moti Sagar Productions simply tells us that viewers can never deter from watching the Gods on television.
Let’s now talk about the paranormal show Fear Files – Dar Ki Sachi Tasveerein, produced by Contiloe Entertainment and Dreamz Images. A fresh concept doing pretty well at the rating chart.
And what more does Zee TV have in their kitty? Socially provoking shows Afsar Bitiya, Phir Subah Hogi provide a difference. Punar Vivah has been a revelation when it comes to the theme and freshness. Above all is Pavitra Rishta returning good numbers for years now!! Mrs. Kaushik ki Paanch Bahuein, Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke and Hitler Didi have also been contributing to the numbers with their interesting concepts.
And what’s to come? Post the success of DID L’il Masters, it is to be seen whether Dance Ke Superkids sustains the competition of numbers.
So what is the mood in the Zee camp as of now? Let’s take a look.
Firstly, producer Sumeet Mittal whose Punar Vivah is doing very well on the channel said, “It is indeed a good feeling to see Zee TV take the #1 position. My association with the team I am working with in Punar Vivah has been good; we have been close friends for a while now. It feels nice when our show works on the channel. My best wishes to team Zee.”
Moti Sagar whose recent launch Ramayan has made the difference when it comes to the high opening numbers shared, “Zee TV has stood Number 1 today just because of the content and few non-fiction shows that were launched recently. It is merely a coincidence that Ramayan started, and the channel is at the #1 position. All I can say is it is God’s grace.”
Raakesh Paswan, producer of Afsar Bitiya said, “Kudos to the team of Zee TV. Their reality show DID L’il Masters getting a huge rating of 8.0, that too in the present time is simply amazing and I congratulate the entire team. Also, I feel it was a smart move by the programming team of Zee TV to launch Ramayan at the Sunday morning slot of 11 am. When it comes to fiction, they have 2-3 shows which have all the potential to make it big.”
Abhimanyu Singh of Contiloe Entertainment, whose Fear Files rocks the late night slot on weekends on Zee TV, state, “It is remarkable to see Zee TV where it has reached today. The reason why Zee TV has moved forward is because of its varying content. The launch of Ramayan, the success of DID L’il Masters and Fear Files as part of weekend programming have given them the impetus. When it comes to fiction shows, they have a very good looking package. As far as Fear Files goes, we have lot of exciting things planned for the future, and we hope the show becomes a strong property for Zee TV. As a producer, I am happy as we have had a long and fruitful association with Zee TV with our previous show on the channel Jhansi Ki Rani doing well. We would always cherish our association with Zee TV.”
Last but not the least, we talked to Meghana Uppal, Creative Head of Zee TV’s long running show Pavitra Rishta. “Well, it is really a feat to be #1 on the channel even after 3 years and 850 episodes. We thank everyone who has been part of Pavitra Rishta for giving a new lease of life post leap. The show was not doing well before the leap and with Sushant Singh Rajput going out, the fans were upset. And to sustain the ratings from there was a tough job indeed. It was very sweet of Ankita Lokhande to take the onus on herself. We are very happy for Zee TV and aim to take the channel to new highs through our show Pavitra Rishta.”
When contacted, Ashish Golwalkar, Head of Non Fiction, Zee TV said, "We are elated at the development. Our weekend programming has taken us here, and we will try our best to add more variety to our programming line-up."
Well done, Zee team!!
