Sometimes strict, sometimes cuddly and sometimes a disciplinarian…teachers are someone who have always been a guiding force in life. Now there are many television actors who have immortalized various avatars of teachers on small screen. Here’s Tellychakkar.com listing some of the performers who will be remembered for ages for putting up some striking acts. Here you go… Alok Nath - Who can forget Alok Nath’s stupendous performance as Master Haveliram in Buniyaad (DD National)? The show as well as the character of Haveliram has gained a cult status. A path-breaking show with a soul stirring performance, Alok Nath is one name that has become synonymous with the word teacher. Vinay Pathak and Suchitra Pillai - Who doesn’t love to see shows based on school life and Zee TV’s Hip Hip Hurray was one such serial which won millions of hearts with its unique, captivating and poignant presentation. Smart, dashing and cool Vinay Pathak as Vincent or Vinny sir and sexy and suave Suchitra Pillai as Alaknanda ma'am emerged as ideal teachers. They were a guiding force and of course friends for the students. Vinny sir and Alaknanda ma'am are missed dearly even today. Pankaj Kapoor - Yes, we are talking about Mohan Bharti from Zabaan Sambhalke (DD Metro). He is an engineer who is forced to teach Hindi in the National Institute of Language, NIL. He is not charming and keeps losing his temper. There is no doubt that Pankaj Kapoor is a superb actor and as Mohan Bharti he gave a new dimension to the role of a teacher. He was humorous in his own subtle way. Manish Wadhwa - Coming to the younger lot, one cannot but mention Manish Wadhwa’s performance as Chanakya in Imagine’s Chandragupta Maurya. Manish won the Jury Award for Best Actor in the Eleventh Indian Telly Awards for portrayal of the same. His razor sharp acting and impeccable quality of dialogue delivery made him a true Chanakya. Karan Singh Grover - Now who wouldn’t love to have this hunk as a teacher? Muscular, superbly handsome and smoking hot, this beefy tattooed lad played a cool and amiable character of Prof. Karan Mallik in Channel V’s Dil Dostii Dance. His entry added a vibrant flavor to the show and he played a major role in sorting out differences between the students. Karan…you rocked as a teacher. Ankur Nayyar in Humse Hain Liife - Yeh…we know we broke the news of Ankur being replaced by Amit Sareen in Channel V’s Humse Hain Life. But as Coach Karanveer, he did manage to carve a niche for himself and struck a chord with the masses. Intense with a calm veneer, Ankur aptly lived up to his role and booked his place in this list. Mandar Chandwadkar - We all love Bhide from SAB TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. A disciplined Marathi teacher, Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide is truly an adorable and funny character. Played by Mandar Chandwadkar, the character has become a household name now. Mandar…keep up the good work… Now…coming to the fairer sex. Shernaz Patel - Shernaz exemplifies class and style. And she played a perfect teacher in NDTV Imagine’s Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain. The show taught spoken English, essential for survival and success in today's world. It reached out to a wide section of viewers all across the country and aimed to empower and instill a sense of confidence in the viewers. Shernaz is still remembered vividly for her stint in the serial. Sadiya Siddiqui and Pratyusha Banerjee: Sadiya Siddqui and Pratyusha Banerjee both play the roles of teachers in Colors’ Balika Vadhu. Sadiya gained popularity playing the role of Sandhya, Anandi’s school teacher. She is someone who is determined in eliminating all the ills of society, including child marriage. Currently she keeps making appearances on and off in the show. On the other hand, Anandi played by Pratyusha Banerjee, runs a small school in her village and teaches kids. Though the track has died down a bit…but her performance as a teacher is truly commendable. Kishwer Merchant - Kishwer is bubblicious and a stunner. She played the role of a sexy and appealing teacher Tamanna or Tam maam as she was fondly called in Star One’s popular show Miley Jab Hum Tum. Her performance was appreciated by the fans and critics alike and she definitely deserves a place in the list. Tina Dutta - Tina Dutta aka Ichcha in Colors’ Uttaran taught kids in a chawl before she got married to Veer (Nandish Sandhu…now being played by Vikas Bhalla). Her sensitive and cool demeanor added a subtle flash to her character. She wowed everyone with her performance and enacted her part perfectly as a teacher. Sakshi Tanwar - As Priya in Sony Entertainment Television’s Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Sakshi Tanwar plays a teacher who used to educate minds in coaching classes. The sequences wherein Priya interacts with the students were written and enacted aptly. Though she is currently not handling the responsibility of a mentor, Priya’s identity as a teacher will be remembered by one and all. So this was our list and if we have missed anyone… then please go down to the comments section and share the names and your thoughts. Happy Teacher’s Day to everyone!!!
