MUMBAI: Amitabh Bachchan and the Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 contestants frequently have lovely chats. Big B was also seen encouraging a contestant who had survived cancer in a recent episode by discussing his numerous hospital visits.
It all began when Akshay, one of the contestants, began to cry as he recalled receiving his cancer diagnosis. He said that he was admitted to the hospital due to cancer, while his friends were having a great time at college.
“I have always been inclined towards art. As I grew up, I was introduced to design. In 2018, I was diagnosed with cancer. The treatment took place for 1-2 years. During the recovery period, which I spent at home, I started learning designing on my own. I had knee pain for quite some time. After getting scans and all, doctors found a golf ball-sized tumour. Then through biopsy, we found out it is cancerous tumour,” Akshay said.
“I had chemotherapy sessions and surgery also. When my friends were going to college, I was in hospital. It was a tough fight but a life-altering experience. I learnt a lot. I saw a kid around 6-7 years, who had to undergo surgery and they had to amputate the leg,” he added.
According to Akshay, the cancer diagnosis changed his life. Amitabh Bachchan talked about his repeated trips to the hospital and mentioned that he has also always come out healthy because of his loved ones' blessings.
“I am sitting in front of you. I have also made many rounds to the hospital but by the blessings of everyone, I have come out healthy. And there’s no reason to feel upset about your friends who were going to college because they didn’t come to KBC,” Big B said.
Amitabh Bachchan has hosted KBC since the show's launch in 2000 except for the third season, which was hosted by celebrity Shah Rukh Khan. The show's 16th season debuted on Sony TV earlier this month.
