Sony Entertainment Television's Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka, produced by Hats Off Productions was under the scanner as the show failed to rake in numbers. The show was to go off air in mid October and Tellychakkar.com had written about it. Shashi-Sumeet Mittal's show which is loosely based on the story of the Beauty and the Beast was to take its slot. However, there is a change to it now.
Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka, we hear has got an extension of two months. The channel was to take a call on the future of the show, and our reliable source states that in a meeting held recently, the channel liked the story submitted by the production house for the next two months and has given it a second lease of life. Also, the recent twist in the tale has increased the intrigue element amongst viewers and the channel hopes that the show will rate better in the coming weeks.
Also, the Shashi Sumeet Mittal show which was slated to replace Byaah… is not ready at the moment. Our readers will remember that we had written about a conceptual change in the show with respect to the female lead's track. For the uninitiated, Sargun Mehta had to opt out and the hunt for a fresh female face is presently on.
When contacted, producer J D Majethia, Hats Off Productions told us, “Well, we always believed that Byaah Hamari had the potential to survive. The recent track has been liked by viewers and the ratings have also got better.”
We tried calling Sumeet Mittal to know about the status of his upcoming show on Sony, but he remained unavailable.
So for the moment, all we can say is that Byaah… survives the test of time and lives on.
