Shooting to be stalled in Film City; FWICE calls for a non co-operation movement

Trouble is brewing on the premises of Mumbai’s Film City. Yes, our reporters have just learnt about a situation that has cropped up wherein the members of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) have decided to put their foot down and stall shooting (for films and TV both). Yes…the governing body has decided to call for a non co-operation movement. And what marked the onset of all the drama? Here you go… Actually, last night (4 October 2012) few robbers broke into the shooting premises of Uttaran (Colors…produced by FilmFarm Productions). The goons attempted to run away with valuables when the lightmen on the sets summoned the Film City security personnel who caught the goons red-handed and called the cops. But the cops, in comedy of errors, sent the lightmen packing along with the robbers and hit them badly in the custody. Said an agitated Prem Singh, Generel Secretary, FWICE, “Yes, we are launching a non-co operation movement. No one will go ahead to help with the shooting process. Workers are not safe in the Film City premises. Something is needed to be done about it.” A source, who is present at Film City shared that shooting has come to a halt and lot of workers have grouped in front of the FWICE office. “The matter has reached the ears of higher authorities in the mantralaya and workers will get back to work only when the irresponsible cops are brought to justice.” We will keep a tap on the development. The Joint Managing Director of Film City, Mangesh Mohite, came and talked to the angry technicians stating that the issue will be looked upon with utmost strictness and care. He also said that security in the Film City premises will be beefed up. He further requested everyone to get back to work and people finally decided to bury the hatchet and move their professional limbs. Four lightmen, who were beaten by the cops and taken into custody, were later released after the intervention of Amit Chandra, operation head of Uttaran. He assured everyone that things will be smooth in the future. So…all’s well that ends well!!!
