Catch Parag Chadha re-debuting on the small-screen with Forbidden Angels after a break of eight years straight

Telly fame Parag Chadha was the winner of Splitsvilla 3 and featured in shows like Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Halla Bol and Love by Chance. Now, after a hiatus of eight years, he is all set to return to TV and will be seen hosting the reality show Forbidden Angels.

MUMBAI: Talking about the same, Parag expressed, “I am getting back to TV in a new avatar. I am excited about hosting Forbidden Angles, as I will be working with Cyrus Sahukar and Mugdha Godse, who are mentoring contestants and judging the show.”.

Though Parag was missing in action on screen, he was actively working in showbiz. He took a break to set up a casting agency. In these eight years, the actor has done the casting for around 45 shows including Jamai Raja, Tamanna, Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls and for several commercials.

He said, “My casting and talent company is an exclusive talent partner for Forbidden Angels, too. It’s been a great journey so far. The agency is the reason for taking a sabbatical from TV. I wanted to venture into the OTT world, both in front of the camera and behind it. I feel the content on OTT is path-breaking and I am constantly trying to grab those opportunities.”.

Parag decided to focus all his energies on his first love - casting - after a few projects he was approached to act in, failed to take off.

“I wanted to stick around. The first two years following my win in Splitsvilla were wasted, as the shows I had signed didn’t see the light of the day. That’s when I realised that if I wanted to stay here, I had to step up and do something else, which would help in keeping the situation stable. The obvious choice was to get back to casting. It also meant staying connected with art. I already had experience in casting as I had assisted Shanoo Sharma on eight projects, including Band Baaja Baarat, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Ishaqzaade and Ek Tha Tiger. That was my first ever job in the field and I developed an insight into the process during the course.”, he said.

He added, “I did sign a few things right after the show, but quickly realised that I needed to do something else, too. My dreams were big and it has taken me a decade to finally be in a position to at least audition for meaty characters in a show or a film.”.

Now, the actor wants to balance both professions. He said, “I enjoy both the processes equally. To be able to blend into a new part is as beautiful as creating and finding the correct talent and moulding them into characters.”.
