MUMBAI: Known for his direction in movies like, Faraar, Aaj Kie Aurat, filmmaker Santosh Gupta is going through tragic times now, his wife Asmita and daughter Srishti died by setting themselves on fire at their home in Mumbai's suburban Andheri's DN Nagar. As per initial prove, 55-year-old Asmita took the drastic step as she was suffering from a prolonged kidney ailment. The couple's daughter Srishti killed herself due to the trauma of her mother's illness.
According to reports, Asmita and her daughter set themselves aflame on Monday afternoon in their apartment and the incident came to light when their neighbours summoned fire brigades, an official told news agency PTI.

The two were rushed to Cooper Hospital the sae evening, where Asmita was declared dead on arrival. The couple's daughter had suffered 70 percent burns and succumbed to her injuries a day later at the Airoli National Burns centre.
A senior inspector, Bharat Gaikwad, from DN Nagar police station said that two different accidental death cases have been registered and further investigation is underway.
