MUMBAI: Telly actress Rubina Dilaik has been in the entertainment industry for over 13 years now and has become immensely popular as a household figure since the portrayal of the lead role - Soumya in her show, Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, which airs on Colors TV.

Last year, she along with her husband Abhinav Shukla had participated in Salman Khan's hosted reality show - Bigg Boss 14 and after a tough phase of endless struggles, assignments, misunderstandings amid housemates, certain triggering allegations mid numerous other incidents, she was declared the winner of the reality show's 14th season.

All of the Bigg Boss' avid fans know that amid her stay and tough journey therein, the most poignant struggle she underwent was of her personal struggles with husband Abhinav Shukla. Quite often, the duo's banters, quarrels and disagreements caught the house's limelight, such that it over-shadowed the other existing differences in the house. Viewers were left totally shocked and heartbroken that day when both Rubina and Abhinav confessed before the public media that they were almost on the verge of considering a dvorce. However, with her luck taking her stride, Rubina conquered all odds one after another, starting first with her ailing relationship and eventually, the entire show. Rubina and their fans were utterly disappointed with Abhinav's unexpected elimination from the show, right before few weeks of it's finale, that too when Rubina-Abhinav's bond was improving by greater margins.

Now recently, in an exclusive interview, Rubina opened up about the issues that she faced with Abhinav both before and during BB 14 and how they overcame their shortcomings or rather, how the show itself played a huge role in strengthening their bond instead of drifting them apart through their regular differences and banters.

Starting off, regarding the various judgements the duo was subjected to (both from inside and outside the Bigg Boss house) for opening up regarding their relationship's crisis before the public media as it was obvious that viewers tagged them as 'attention and fame seekers' for doing so, Rubina said, "People will judge you irrespective of any situation, so that is absolutely okay and it does not move me in any sense like bad or worse to say.".

However, the one thing she was secretly very sure of about her relationship was that it was the very reason that they decided to do Bigg Boss. "We are not mad to be coming out on a public forum with the problems that we are...you know...going through in our relationship. So that was the honest intention of coming to Bigg Boss house. We were already going through our problems and we had given ourselves 6 months of time before we could part our ways or maybe...even you know, those 6 months would have changed the person or process and that was the exact intention of coming to Bigg Boss house as well.", she claimed.

She further stated that they were already working on their relationship and communication process for 3 months when suddenly, Bigg Boss 14 came their way and that's when the duo consciously decided to embark upon their BB journey.

Rubina added that the virtual on-lookers have a tendency of keeping a tab on a celebrity couple's profiles and make speculations out of whatever they observe regarding their virtual activities. But when a couple consciously decides to speak about their relationship in the public, "we would want to be the ones to narrate it!".

On being asked about the quality improvement in their relationship in terms of quality communication and resolvement of their issues, Rubina revealed that they were trying to resolve their issues prior to joining Bigg Boss 14. They were theoretically aware of what was and what wasn't working amid them (like lack of communication, not wanting to listen to each other, not involving thought-processing, etc.) and Bigg Boss' gave them a platform to work on their issues practically and effectively. Hence, Rubina asserted that with the end of the show, the duo has successfully graduated by figuring out effective communication skills and understanding each other at a very different level.
