From being a co-producer in a television channel to acting in Laagi Tujhse Lagan, looks like it’s been a smooth ride for Ridhi Dogra. She began her career with Jhoome Jiya Re (Zee) and since then there has been no looking back for her who is seen in Seven (Sony) too. TellyChakkar caught up with Ridhi to know more on her future plans:
Your character Supriya has just exited Laagi Tujhse Lagan. Is it a temporary change or will Supriya resurface?
(Laughs) I don’t know actually. Between all of us we feel the character will come back because it is a strong character and liked by the audience. But the decision is up to the makers, we don’t have a say in it.
Seven hasn’t got the desired response from the viewers, what went wrong with the show?
Yes, that’s true! But the show is great and spells quality. The concept too is very new. It is a distinct feature with YRF shows. Though people who watch it love it, but I agree that it has not been able to grab enough eyeballs. But for actors working in such shows, it’s satisfying. I am hoping viewers like it.
Is it true that you were offered Ekta Kapoor’s Chand Chupa Badal Mein?
That’s true, I was offered it. I even did the look test for it. But things did not work out since the production house wanted dates in April and I was still shooting for Laagi. The shooting got over just two days back for Laagi.
What kind of rapport do you share with you co-stars?
In Laagi, most of my scenes are with Mishal (Raheja), Swati madam (Chitnis) and Mahhi (Vij). We got along like a house on fire. I basically get along well with everyone. I have no issues with anyone. I hang out a lot with Mahi.
How has the transition from being a co-producer to an actor been for you?
The change was drastic. I didn’t expect it at all. I came from Delhi to Mumbai with only one thought of getting into a dancing reality show. I was actually selected by Shiamak Davar as an instructor as well. I was working with Zoom when around that time Deeya and Tony Singh were looking for someone who could dance for their new show Jhoome Jiya Re. Somebody told me to audition which I did and immediately got selected. And now am addicted to acting.
How is life off camera?
I am a complete chilled out person. I am a workaholic as well and get a panic attack if I get two days off. I like to keep myself occupied. I have a lot of actor-friends. But I take time out for spas and movies. I love reading books. I have my brother and maasi in Mumbai and like spending time with them. I also visit the Gurudwara often.
Any marriage plans?
(Laughs) No Ways. Door door tak nahin…
What next?
I do have a lot of offers. But I am going to choose the best. There is something in Yash Raj itself, but it’s too early to say anything.
