Of late Ashiesh Roy has been satisfying his craving for good roles. And so his latest outing will be in Laapataganj.
Says Roy, “Laapataganj is without doubt my favorite show on TV these days, and acting in it is like a dream come true. I’ve long been a huge fan of Ashwini Dheer. He’s a brilliant writer. I just finished shooting for a terrific story, and am feeling on top of the world.”
Roy plays a smooth-talking manipulative politician in one of the episodes. “It’s a superbly written role. Plus the cast and crew are all old friends, so I had a blast shooting for it.”
Roy was last seen in Star Plus’ daily soap Burey Bhi Hum Bhale Bhi Hum. Then his mother fell seriously ill and he took a year off from work to be by her side. In an age where taking even a week off from television is considered professional suicide, Roy says matter-of-factly, “It had to be done. You can get plenty of work, but you get only one mother in your life time. It’s all due to my mother’s blessings I’m here. She has recovered fully now and I’m back to shooting round-the-clock. It’s a great feeling.”
