MUMBAI: Colors’ show Barrister Babu is a one of a kind show and has attracted the masses not only with the strong concept but also with the storyline.
The show is produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions and stars Anchal Sahu and Pravisht Mishra. The central character, around which the story revolves is Bondita who aspires to become a Barrister when she grows up. Aurra Bhatnagar played the younger version of Bondita and was the center of the audience’s attention.
As the show has taken a leap, the show features Arina Dey, who plays the role of Sumati Maa in new light. In conversation with Arina, she shared, “The feel of the show is fresh and now Sumati Maa is seen in a different light. Sumati Maa will now have hair and not sport the bald look. While earlier she never used to stop Bondita from meeting Aniruddh, she now objects. There are many more changes which the audience will get to witness. My bond with Anchal, is great too!”
The premise of Barrister Babu, on how it started was set in the pre-independence era in rural Bengal, Anirudh Roy Choudhary, a 22-year-old barrister returns to Tulsipur to wipe out customs and disbelieves from the society, which prevents the progress of women. On the other hand, Bondita Das, is an 11-year-old Bengali Hindu girl, living with her widowed mother, Sumati and her maternal family. Bondita's uncle and aunt decide to get Bondita marry with an elderly man, while her cousin, Sampoorna is set to marry Saurabh. However, the elderly man dies and Anirudh marries Bondita to save her being a part of sati.
