MUMBAI: Udaariyan is one of the most loved and successful shows on television, and the story keeps the audience hooked.
Currently, the show has been having major twists and turns. The fans haven't enjoyed it so much before the way the trio has been leaving them glued to the screens.
Well, the major twist with Simran didi's grand entry in the Virk house brought a great achievement to the team with 3.1 ratings on Tuesday for the episode. We rang Simi aka Chetna Singh for an absolutely candid conversation and here's what she had to say.
If not an actor what would you do?
Well, before acting I was an RJ with 98.3Fm Radio Mirchi, I had my show in pan Punjab, my debut in acting was also an overnight decision. Before doing Udaariyaan, I began with a Punjab TV Tu Patang Main Dorr as the lead. I still remember I was doing my last interview as RJ and the next day I was on the sets shooting for the TV show. God forbid if acting doesn't work out, I will go back to being a Radio Jockey, it has been my life and shall always have the closest place in my heart. It is incredible to have the power of changing anybody's mood with just a song.
How did acting happen?
I had got a call from the show-makers while I was an RJ and they told me they were searching for the lead for Tu Patang Main Dorr, I sent them my pictures and that night itself they told me I was selected for the show. It was all soo quick, I still remember after doing my life interview I was telling my boss that now I want people to take my interview instead and I feel "Rab Ne Meri Sunn Li". Now, all I wish is that Udaariyaan reaches new heights with its content.
Tell us about your bond with your co-stars in Udaariyaan
Our dear papaji who is so strict on screen is completely opposite offscreen. He often tells, "itne kadakte dialogues diye hai, muje khud ko kabhi kabhi bura lagta hai". He is such a nice person apart from being so kadak on screen. Talking about the lead, at first I thought Ankit, Priyanka would have air but I was completely mistaken. I was really scared earlier but then after being around, they have turned a family away from home.
Buzzo, Amrik, Isha everyone is such adorable and what they are doing in the show is commendable. Isha is soo young, yet she has built that maturity to understand the audience's reaction and not get affected by everything that they say. If I were in her place, I would surely break down.
Well, we really love Simran in the show and can't wait to see more of her in the show.
