Ali Mercchant and Sara Khan sharing screen space for the first time after their divorce through the Life OK show, Welcome – Baazi Mehmaan Nawaazi Ki (Miditech) had made news over the week. It was also reported that this attempt by the makers of the show to bring the estranged couple together on the same platform did not work as Sara could not take this shock and reacted very badly amidst the cameras rolling. The result was that Ali Mercchant had to make way from the show, only to be replaced by Vindu Dara Singh. So what do Sara and Ali have to say about this experience? As for Ali, he feels that Sara over-reacted and it was not needed at all. In a chat with Tellychakkar.com, Ali expressed his views, “The fact is that I have moved on and Sara too, has moved on. So why create a social embarrassment with the cameras rolling? You just see for yourself when the episode is aired, as to how weirdly Sara reacted when she saw me. I never knew Sara was part of this show; if I knew I would have never taken it up. But the fact now is that I do not care about her, and you can imagine how strong the reason for our split should have been when I tell you that I have moved on in life so quickly. It is very tough for guys to move on from a relationship, while it is very easy for girls to do so. For me, Sara was just another contestant in the show.” Reacting to Sara’s statement in media, Ali said, “I could never imagine that Sara could make a statement in the media that the channel brought us together for ratings. Well, she knew the format and so did I. So when we were very clear about the format of the show, she could have maintained her dignity and self respect and played the game in the way it should have been played. But no, she had to yell before the camera and do all the drama that she could. After all her dramatics were over, we did shoot for the episode. Even then, I was all smiling, playing the game in a casual way.” Ali then narrates the manner in which he decided to back-off from the show. “I had a long conversation after the episode was shot with the channel, and we came to a mutual decision that I quit the show. The makers came to my house the next day and shot a byte with me wherein I tell the viewers that I could not make it for dinner. And I will be taking no more part in the show. In other words, I left the show with my dignity intact, unlike Sara who kept yelling.” Well, we understand Ali that you are extremely hurt here!! But wait, what has Sara to say regarding this accusation from Ali? We asked Sara the same, “If I was in Ali’s place, I would not have entered the house, especially when I got to know that it was Sara opening the door. I would have backed out from the show then and there, as I never want to work with him in my life. I was the host for the episode, and it would have been wrong on my part to leave the show and go out at that given situation.” Reacting to Ali’s statements, Sara fired back, “To tell you more, I have moved on in life and I am very happy with my relationship now and I am pretty open about it. If he says, ‘TRP ke liye channel ne kiya hai’, then understand the channel’s reciprocation to the problem too. If they had done this only for TRPs, then Ali would not have been out of the show now. They would not have considered my personal feelings and made me feel comfortable by replacing him. I have no problems with the channel and that is why I continued the shoot. Even when we were shooting, I completely ignored him while he was trying to talk to me.” “And what is he talking about social embarrassment? Was he not the one who created a social embarrassment by talking about our split-up in the open? And Ali cannot say we have moved on, and so we have to be mature enough to share screen space again. He cannot judge my mindset, and it is a fact that I cannot share screen space with him ever again,” continued Sara. Lastly, Sara took offence to Ali’s words in the promo that is presently on air, “I just now saw the promo of the episode wherein Ali is saying that he is guilty. Now I want to tell him that I am guilty for having him as my boy friend at some phase of my life. I still have the guilt within me that he was part of my life before.” Ali and Sara, cool down and gulp this episode with a pinch of salt!!
