Snacking with Sonarika aka Goddess Parvati at Hotel Trident

Click on the pic to view slideshow Devon Ke Dev-Mahadev on Life OK channel, is among the top popular serials of the times, despite of it being a mythological one. Its DVD launch has been much looked-forward to by the staunch viewers of the show. As the star cast is always busy shooting from morning till night at the outskirts in Naigaon, my request for dinner date always met with disappointment. So, determined to meet the lead pair I trekked to a five-star hotel in town.

The still-in-her teens, attractive actor Sonarika Bhadoria who plays the mature role of Lord Shiva’s wife and Goddess in the popular mythological serial Devon Ka Dev-Mahadev, is revered by viewers as Parvati, Maa Durga and Maha Kaali. She had already impressed viewers as Abhilasha, a new bride from a small town in her first serial Tum Dena Saath Mera. I did not wish to miss the opportunity of meeting her over hi-tea at Hotel Trident, Nariman Point. She looked resplendent in a white net saree and sleeveless blouse. As she was at a press conference earlier for the launch of the serial’s DVD, she had already gone through the grind of Q & As but was kind enough to comply with my hi-tea treat request. Hotel Trident is well-known for its immaculate service and mouth-watering f and b offerings. The spread was vegetarian with Hara Bhara Kebabs, spring rolls, mini pizzas, spinach quiche and samosas, with pastries and brownies. Some piping hot coffee to go with the snacks and we are set. The loving mother Parvati who makes modaks for her son Ganesh says, “I have all of 32 sweet teeth,” adding further, “When my mother was carrying me, I believe she used to have four scoops of ice creams every day.” No wonder then even after all those grueling schedules of daily shoots, Sonarika looks fresh, creamy and sweet like vanilla ice cream! On asking she confers, “I have grown up listening to stories on Lord Shiva and it is with His blessings that I got a chance to play Parvati. Of course, who wouldn’t like to have a husband with Mahadev’s qualities?” She did manage to abide by my food tasting requests with a smile on her beautiful face, though I could sense some amount of edginess in her demeanor. It was past eight in the evening and she said, “It is my mom’s birthday today.” She had promised to spend time with her and celebrate it but then as you know in the television industry, work takes precedence. Not wanting to delay her any longer, I take leave of the pretty actor and look forward to view more of her Godly avatars on the small screen.
