The lead cast and the production house (Cinevistaas) of Star Plus’ Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai have always gone on to deny the buzz that the show is going off air. Now we hear that the channel has decided to give the show a six months extension. Niaa Sharma who plays the character of Maanvi quipped, “I have no news of the extension for I did not hear any official talk about the show going off air in the first place. They were all rumors. But we were a bit perturbed when the buzz broke out. It’s not that had the show ended we would not have bagged any other project, it’s just that we love this sisterly love saga so much.” Niaa also accepted that the ratings have come down from a peak of 3 to around 1. But things are now better and numbers look good with producer Siddharth Malhotra taking control of things. “I also love the current track where Virat (Kushal Tandon) and I have moved to the outhouse after differences with Viren (Karan Tacker) and Jeevika (Krystal Dsouza),” said Niaa. Next we spoke to Kushal Tandon who repeated what his co –star Niaa had said, “We were never going off air.” He also did not pay too much attention to the fact that ratings had gone down earlier. “Such fluctuations keep happening in TV; ratings do come down when tracks don’t work. But then we make required corrections and numbers soon get back to normal. I am very happy with the current track as it centers on me.” Here Kushal who had also taken part in Nach Baliye 5 (Star Plus again) admitted that doing the above couple dance reality show had affected Ek Hazaaron Mein. “I could not handle both and hence got eliminated early.” Last but not the least; we spoke to producer Siddharth who said, “We would always laugh on reading ‘the going off air stories’ for we never got the marching orders from the channel. As for your extension news, this again does not apply as our previous one year extension is still ongoing (till October2013).” He also does not feel that the channel will give any more extensions in the future for, “we have had a good and long journey already.” Point to Niaa’s assertion that things had turned around after he took over the reins and Siddharth says, “I was always around but now I am totally hands on. The entire team is working hard on the fresh track and people like it but it’s not that the numbers have really shot up, but yes there is a definite upward swing.” So if we do read between the lines it appears that show is safe at least till October 2013.
