MUMBAI: A few days ago, Devoleena Bhattacharjee’s engagement post with her Saath Nibhana Saathiya co-actor Vishal Singh had made news.

Netizens assumed that she had really got engaged to Vishal as both had posted a romantic picture with an engagement ring. However, it turned out that the post was meant for a music video promotion. The two did receive flak online for putting up such misleading post.

Celebs are often accused of doing such things to increase their following on social media. But Devoleena says theirs was just a marketing gimmick.

She shared, "It was a marketing gimmick for a music video and it was not even something that sounded real. There are pros and cons of social media, and I think we are better off than the millions of people who spread negativity online. We posted something romantic, which is not true. Why is no one asking people who spread negativity? I don't think I should be blamed or questioned for this. It was a silly prank and people fell for it."
