MUMBAI : Life has come a full circle for Bhuban Badyakar. From selling peanuts at a remote village in Birbhum to performing live at a nightclub in Kolkata, it's been a journey that dreams are made of.
Three months back, he was struggling to sustain a family of ten on his humble income from selling peanuts. Recently, a music company handed him a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakh as royalty for his earthy tune.
Among the most talked-about songs this year is the famous 'Kacha Badam' sung by him. The super addictive tune of the Bengali song has made millions of Instagram users crazy. From influencers to the actors from showbiz, they all have been grooving on the beats of this song.
Incidentally, the song with its folk tune has come from the most unlikely of sources. It’s been created by Bhuban Badyakar, a peanut-seller from rural West Bengal. Interestingly, those who used to mock or troll Bhuban for such an unusual song are now waiting in line to meet him. Many people in my area had insulted and mocked him when I first came up with this song. And now, when the song has gone viral, they want to meet him and visit him at my home.
He want to be an artist now. He says that if he goes out selling peanuts as a celebrity, hr will have to face humiliation.
