MUMBAI: One of the most awaited films of 2022 was Shamshera. It marked Ranbir Kapoor’s comeback after a gap of four years. The trailer had impressed one and all, the songs had received a great response, and the promotions were just perfect. Before the release, everything was in the favor of the film, but still, it turned out to be a disaster at the box office.
Shamshera took a decent opening of Rs. 10.25 crore, but because of the negative reviews and not-so-great word of mouth, the film didn’t show any growth at the box office. In its first week, the movie collected Rs. 40.45, and further, it dropped so badly that the lifetime collection of the film was Rs. 42.48 crores at the Indian box office. The worldwide gross collection of Shamshera was Rs. 63.58 crore.

Now, let’s talk about the budget for the film. Reportedly, Shamshera was made on a budget of Rs. 150 crore, so even if we consider the worldwide gross collection, the movie is a disaster.
Shamshera was a period drama and Ranbir Kapoor was seen playing a double role in it. The movie starred Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist and Vaani Kapoor was seen as the female lead.
The makers promoted the film well, but the audience is not interested in watching any mediocre content on the big screen. Now, all eyes are on the Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar which is slated to release on 8th March 2023.
