MUMBAI: There might be hardly anyone who hasn’t heard the song ‘Kacha Badam’ at least once on social media. The song became a rage a while back with people and even celebs jumping on the viral trend of making reels while dancing to the tunes of the song. Lock Upp famed Anjali Arora gained immense popularity after she danced on the song, which was sung by Bhuban Badyakar.
The latter too became an overnight sensation with the unique track and for his unique voice and dialect. However the singer sadly, is struggling to make ends meet after a harrowing incident that left him financially broke.
For the unversed, Bhuban is a peanut seller who became an internet sensation after his song went viral. The resident of Lakshminarayanpur village in Birbhum’s Dubrajpur village, recently revealed that he had to move in with his son and forgo his own home.
Despite people thinking that his song ‘Kacha Badam’ gave him fame and money, the singer is financially unstable and is currently staying in the city of Dubrajpurand. The singer used the money he earned from the song in building a house and hardly any money left. When people came demanding for more money he didn’t have any and they took away his iPhone. He gives a harrowing account saying, “They took my phone away, and so I ran away from home. They wanted money from me, which I could not give. They took my iPhone while I was sleeping.”

Badyakar further told a news portal that a Birbhum based company and it’s owner made him sign papers that made him unknowingly sell the copyrights of his song and cheated him. The company named ‘ Indian Performing Right Society Limited’ even promised to pay him Rs 3 Lakhs for sharing his song on YouTube. At present the singer is managing his expenses with a few thousand rupees a month and struggling.
The news of Social media read, “#bhubhanbadyakar the kaccha badam peanut seller is a worried man. Bubhan had built himself a new house and bought a four wheeler after he went viral. But now is back to his previous life of misery. According to him, a copyright issue has rendered him to unable to even sing his own songs. He can no longer sing his own song as someone has stolen the rights for his Kacha Badam song”
