Jackie Shroff, who likes Bengali culture immensely, is not new to the Bengali film industry. The actor, who debuted in Bengali cinema with Rituparno Ghosh's Antarmahal is in the process of doing his fourth Bengali film in the form of Ujjwal Chatterjee's Swabhumi.
The actor not so long ago had said that he wanted to dub lines in Bengali in his own voice as that would add more authenticity to the character. And he agreed to do Ujjwal Chatterjee's film because of the real life-inspired script that revolved around the burning issue of land acquisition. The 56-year-old actor appears as an IPS officer in the movie.
Jackie, who seemed aware of the land movement that had rocked Bengal in 2007, is currently into the post-production process of the film dubbing his lines.
The film also stars Tapas Paul and Debashree Roy.
It may be remembered that Ujjwal had earlier produced and directed Escape from Taliban and White Mischief.
