“Only Sunny Deol can carry that uniform”: Col. Bharwan on the Border franchise as Border 2 buzz rises

Border

MUMBAI: The makers of Border 2 have launched the film’s campaign with a strong, staggered poster rollout that has steadily built excitement with every reveal. It began with Sunny Deol’s poster, which instantly re-ignited the emotion, pride, and resonance associated with the Border franchise. This was followed by Varun Dhawan’s intense first look, bringing added scale and edge to the film’s world, and then Diljit Dosanjh’s poster, which unveiled a look filled with grit, passion, and a soldier charged to fight for the nation. Each reveal has pushed engagement higher, with fans and film pages amplifying the buzz across platforms and driving steady conversation around the film.

Adding powerful emotion to this momentum, a statement from Col. Rajeev Bharwan of the Indian Army has struck a deep chord with audiences and fans alike.

Speaking about Sunny Deol and his presence in the Border universe, Col. Bharwan said,
“Uniform toh kai actors pehente hain… par uska asli maan aur wazan sirf Sunny Deol utha sakta hai.”

For generations of viewers, Sunny Deol’s portrayal in Border has remained one of the most stirring representations of a soldier on the Indian screen. He did not simply wear the uniform, he gave it soul. Every salute, every command, every roar carried pride and purpose. His performance became a benchmark for how a soldier is seen and felt in cinema.

As Border 2 advances a new chapter within the Border franchise, Col. Bharwan’s words reflect a sentiment shared by millions across the country.

Sunny Deol does not just play a soldier. He embodies one.

Border 2 is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series, in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films. Backed by a powerful production team including Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and directed by Anurag Singh, the film continues the legacy of honouring the heroism and indomitable spirit of Indian soldiers, taking audiences on a spectacular journey of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice. Gear up for this monumental saga of patriotism and courage, as Border 2 storms into cinemas on January 23rd 2026.
