MUMBAI : The trailer of movie Mumbaikar was getting a lot of love from the fans upon its release. JioCinema is back with some great line ups of movies and OTT shows and this movie is one of them. Mumbaikar has great talents like Vikrant Massey, Vijay Sethupathi, Tanya Maniktala, Sanjay Mishra, Sachin Khedekar, Ranvir Shorey and Shubhankar Das. It is directed by Santosh Sivan.
The movie has finally released in JioCinema. Talking about the premise of the movie, it revolves around two people who come to the city of dreams, Mumbai. One wants to rule the underworld, while the other tries to find a job in the big city. Here, a don's son gets kidnapped, which somehow, goes wrong. The way all the characters meet through this blunder is shown in the film.
The screenplay of the movie is very dull. The concept is interesting, but Santosh Sivan's direction is strictly average.
The movie mostly plays on the performances of different actors present in the movie. Vikrant Massey delivers yet another powerful character as a careless Mumbai kar. Vijay Sethupathi has got a few funny lines and the actor was brilliant on his part. Unfortunately, actress Tanya Maniktala had very less to offer. On the other hand, Sanjay Mishra was strictly average. Other talents like Sachin Khedekar, Ranvir Shorey and Shubhankar Das were great on their part.
Talking about the positive points of the movie, it has to be the concept. The concept of wrong kidnapping is new in Indian cinema. Also, the movie encashes on some great performances delivered by every actor present. Indeed, it was a treat to watch all these amazing talents in one movie. The movie ends on a lovely note and gives a good message in context of city Mumbai.
However, the negative points overshadow the positive ones. The screenplay is very weak, which is why the movie looks a little dull. The dialogues of the movie should have been more powerful. Also, the action scenes are very weak and looked fake. The concept of the movie was good, but the execution is very weak. Also, Tanya Maniktala and Sanjay Mishra's talents were underused. The direction given by Santosh Sivan is poor.
Well, having said all these points, movie Mumbaikar is a strictly average movie with a good topic, great cast and miserable execution.
Team Tellychakkar goes with 2.5/5 for movie Mumbaikar.
