While speaking to BBC, the actor said, “Success and failure do not affect me. But a National Award becomes important because it is not from any organising company, so it feels special. And, for someone like me, who wanted a government job, to receive an award from the government is a big thing. It is a big achievement for someone who has come from a small town.”

Awards and recognition for his work are enough for Tripathi to stay motivated. He does not want constant attention on him. “I don’t want to stay in the limelight. I just want to do my work and come home. I want to stay as low profile as possible and do only selective work,” shared the Mirzapur actor.

Pankaj Tripathi is known for his humble and modest behaviour. He talks softly and always has a smile on his face when in public. The actor said, “In a year, I get angry only three or four times, that too only for 3-4 seconds. I don’t get angry.”

Tripathi also shared that despite being a successful actor, he doesn’t feel any insult in joining queues. In fact, he enjoys it. The actor said, “Mujhe line mein lagna acha lagta hai, mujhe shayad isliye apmaanit nahi hota hun (I like to be in a queue, maybe that is why I never feel insulted). I cover my face with a mask in Mumbai and Delhi in the public area and main line mein lag kar jaata hun. I enjoy it. Until the past few years, I used to follow the queues, so why not now?”

The Gangs of Wasseypur actor insisted that he is not saying all of it only to project himself as a “modest” person. “I am not saying it to present myself in a positive light or to market myself. I don’t say things to present myself in a certain perspective,” Tripathi clarified.

Pankaj Tripathi has films like Main Atal Hoon and Stree 2 in the pipeline.
