MUMBAI: Bollywood stars Tamannaah Bhatia and Sanjay Dutt have been summoned by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell for questioning regarding their alleged involvement in the 2023 case pertaining to the illegal streaming of IPL matches. According to ANI, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell summoned Tamannaah for questioning in connection with the illegal streaming of the match on the Fairplay App that caused a loss of crores of Rupees to Viacom.

The statement by ANI read, "Maharashtra Cyber summons actor Tamannaah Bhatia for questioning in connection with the illegal streaming of IPL 2023 on Fairplay App that caused loss of Crores of Rupees to Viacom. She has been asked to appear before Maharashtra Cyber on 29th April". The remaining part of the statement also mentions that Sanjay Dutt was called in this matter on April 23, but he did not attend the summons. "He had, instead, sought a date and time for recording his statement and said that he was not in India on the date".
Viacom 18, filed a complaint and in the FIR the broadcasting company claimed that it suffered a loss of Rs 100 crore because of the illegal broadcasting of the IPL matches. The agency has also alleged that more than 40 stars have been investigated for endorsing FairPlay during IPL 2023. The agency has also taken statements from people associated with stars Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Baadshah. They have been accused of endorsing the betting app and persuading their fans and viewers to use the app to watch the matches.
