I'm a learner, and I'm never shy about learning new things: Shiwani Chakraborty

MUMBAI: Shiwani Chakraborty, who is seen in the show Maati Se Bandhi Dor, says she is not scared of learning and adapting to new things, especially in the acting profession. She said, “I'm a learner, and I'm never shy about learning new things. On every set, I learn something, as each character has a unique story to tell.”

“I've done extensive research on how actors work. Before any scene, my co-actor and I discuss the scene. We also have creative conversations while watching movies and web series. One should be open to learning and taking lessons. I'm my own competition,” she said.

Though she never thought of becoming an actor, destiny had other plans. She said, “I wanted to be a choreographer and own a dance academy. But, I don't know how, after auditioning for Tarak Mehta Ka Oolya Chashma, my whole world changed. I transitioned from the fashion world to choreography and then acting. It's destiny. Eventually, I found myself in front of the camera, and I don't know when I became an actor.”

She also said that if she could go back in time, she would tell her younger self that it's never too late or too early. She added, “However, one regret I have is that I wish I had started earlier, come to Mumbai sooner for auditions.”

Shiwani also mentioned that the acting profession is not as easy as it seems on the outside. “People think we just do makeup, roam around, and have fun. However, there are many sacrifices, and staying in makeup is not easy. Actors also deal with internal struggles and leave their hometowns. Acting is not an easy job; you have to work day and night, repeating the same work,” she said.

“People think actors only act, but they should also consider the journey between 'cut' and 'action' and our personal lives, emotions, and families. We can't act for 24 hours; we also have our own lives and don't always act around them,” she concluded.
