During her recent interview on the We Are Yuvaa podcast, Tabu was asked about her thoughts on the female pay disparity in Indian film. In response, Tabu cross-questioned them, enquiring as to why a male actor or director who receives payment for their work was not questioned on this matter.

She said, "Every media person will ask females about pay parity. They will say, 'You know a man is paid more, you are paid less'. So why are you asking me? Why don't you ask the person who is paying them more."

In addition, Tabu shared that questions about gender pay bias are asked to actresses to sensationalize the topic. But, asking this question to a male actor or filmmaker changes the perspective on the issue.

She said, "I can say 'I hate that I'm being paid less' or 'I'm okay with what I'm being paid.' Why don't you ask the male actor why you are getting paid more? This might change the perspective, and the whole thing will change if there is an outside lens. Physicality is always in the context."

The situations for female actresses are getting better, Tabu revealed in a prior interview with the well-known news website. She highlighted that positions for female actors are improving and that the film industry is expanding. She went on to say that women are being cast in more "layered" and "interesting" roles in TV shows, films, and streaming services. However, twenty years ago, this was a major thing.

The last time we saw Tabu was in the movie Crew with Kriti Sanon and Kareena Kapoor. Her upcoming film, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, will be slated for release on August 2, 2024.
