MUMBAI : When Meiyang Chang advanced to the Indian Idol third season finale, he entered our collective awareness. This resulted in a career in singing, anchoring, and acting; he made his acting debut in the Badmaash Company production by Yashraj. He has also competed in two dance reality shows: Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 6, where he finished as the first runner-up, and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4, which he won.

His acting credits include Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, Sultan, and Bharat. He has also acted in web series like as Asur, Undekhi, and Modern Love Mumbai. Currently showing in theaters is Ulajh, his most recent film, which stars Roshan Matthew, Gulshan Devaiah, and Janhvi Kapoor.

Janhavi has taken over as the very young leader at the IFS, and Chang plays one of the officials there. The mystery is whether he is in favor of her or not, and what occurs as a result.

Chang reveals that he is a professionally trained dentist but shifted to the entertainment industry saying, “I had finished my degree in 2005 and by 2006 was practising in Bangalore. The idea to take part in Indian Idol was that of my rakhi sister from Kolkata, who had been telling me since my third year in college about it. But obviously, my focus was on academics, because medical and dental is no joke. You really have to study hard. Also, I come from a family of dentists. The reason I ended up going was because it would be a fun experience and once I started working i would never get the time for something like this. The plan was to go abroad, where a lot of my family was and pursue the profession there, as in India the level of competition is very high.”

Being a third generation Indian-Chinese, the majority of his family was born and raised in India. As a result, he doesn't feel Chinese at all and views himself as being extremely Indian in many ways. His friends tell him that he is an interesting blend of Uttarakhand, Bangalore, and Mumbai, where he was born, and Jharkhand. While you may see the mystery he keeps near to his heart in Ulajh in theaters, you can listen to one of his most recent compositions at home, the intriguingly named Jhoothi Chai, which is sort of a breakup ballad.
