MUMBAI:  Mahesh Bhatt and Vikram Bhatt have been friends for many years. With the Vishesh Films-produced movie Jaanam, Vikram made his directorial debut after working with Mahesh on projects like Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and Junoon.

The duo has produced successful films including Ghulam, Raaz, 1920, and Haunted – 3D over the years. Although Vikram collaborated with Mahesh's nephew Emraan Hashmi on Kasoor and Footpath and his older daughter Pooja Bhatt on Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, he has never directed Alia Bhatt, Mahesh's youngest daughter.

Vikram revealed that he never asked Mahesh to cast Alia in any of his projects, nor has he anticipated working with her, in an interview with the well-known news outlet.

“Her father and I share a relationship that is exclusive and doesn’t involve our families. I don’t think I make the kind of films that Alia Bhatt would be interested in. She has her own universe and choices, and I’ve never gone to Bhatt saab and asked him to get Alia for a particular role. Our relationship isn’t like that.”

Regarding the upcoming generation of actors, Vikram gave Janhvi Kapoor credit for making a name for herself in a field that is dominated by men. “There are girls I really admire for their grit and choice of roles, like Janhvi. I don’t care what people say about her films’ success or failure. She has chosen not to latch onto some star or become the second heroine to a third hero. She has refused to do that,” he stated.

Vikram highlighted that Janhvi stood out herself by selecting projects that may be viewed as risky, in response to those who criticise her as the result of nepotism. “Her films center on her. She has had opportunities to prove her skills, and I admire that about her. Nepo kid or not, that doesn’t matter,” he remarked.

Speaking of Janhvi's unique definition of success, the director of Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage and Awara Paagal Deewana continued, “Here’s someone who’s trying to do something different. I think that’s more sensible than just chasing success at the cost of being a nobody in a film, which only gives you the illusion of success when, in fact, you had nothing to do with it.”

Bloody Ishq, a horror movie that Vikram and Mahesh just collaborated on, is available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Regarding Alia, her upcoming projects include the high-profile film Love and War, Jigra, and Alpha where she will next be seen in. On the other hand, Janhvi was most recently spotted in Ulajh, and has Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and Devara: Part 1.
