MUMBAI: Since Charu Asopa and Rajeev Sen were embroiled in a tumultuous divorce that was finalized in June of last year, photographs of them traveling together with their 2.5-year-old daughter, Ziana, have piqued the interest of internet users on their relationship status. However, Charu claims that their old animosity has passed and that they are now friends.

Charu revealed, “What can I say about people commenting on social media? Nowadays, anyone with a phone can leave a comment, but I don’t let that bother me. As a mother, I know what’s best for my daughter and will do whatever it takes to provide that for her. Kuchh toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna.”

She added, “Having been in this industry for so many years, I have realised that people have an opinion on everything I do. If I let my daughter meet Rajeev, people will say, ‘Yeh muh utha kar phir chali gayi Rajeev ke paas’, and if I don’t, they’ll accuse me of depriving her of her father’s love.”

Speaking of her bond with Rajeev, Charu said, “Rajeev and my divorce happened mutually and he always had access to Ziana. Although it was difficult for me at first, we realised we needed to be on better terms for our daughter’s sake. So, after maintaining a cordial relationship, we have now become friends - for her. That’s all there is to it. Hum puraani baaton ko bhool kar Ziana ke liye aagey badh rahe hain.”

Opening up about her recent trip with Rajeev, Charu said, “Ziana is too young to travel without me, which is why you see me accompanying them. Once she’s old enough to make her own decisions, she’ll have the freedom to choose for herself.”

She concluded saying, “Everyone has the right to move on. I have no issues with Rajeev moving on; in fact, I wish him the best.”
