The court's order, which was made public recently, made clear that Bartels' detention was mostly predicated on the assertions of co-accused parties—which are not admissible evidence unless they are supported by independent evidence.

As part of its investigation into suspected drug usage in the Hindi film industry, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) detained Bartels, a friend of Agisilaos Demetriades, in November 2020. Special Judge Mahesh Jadhav, however, concluded that there was insufficient evidence to connect Bartels to the drug-related offenses following a careful review of the case.

The court's order, which was made public recently, made clear that Bartels' detention was mostly predicated on the assertions of co-accused parties—which are not admissible evidence unless they are supported by independent evidence. The court determined that there were no grounds to pursue the case against Bartels because no such evidence was provided.

It is noteworthy that this finding has no bearing on the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput's death as a whole. The actor's death was initially reported to be a suicide, but the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is still looking into the circumstances surrounding it.

Numerous arrests and developments have occurred in relation to the drug element of the case, which attracted a lot of media interest. For those who don't know, on June 14, 2020, SSR was discovered hanged in his Bandra flat. The CBI is looking into his purported suicide.
