MUMBAI: The IPL season has finally begun and fans are excited for the season. The season started with some amazing celebrity performances for the opening ceremony, after which KKR vs. RCB took place. Earlier, we had observed some of the biggest controversies in the history of IPL and with the start of IPL 2025, it seems we’ve got our first controversy already.

Earlier, there were reports about Harbhajan Singh getting into trouble because of his racial remarks which triggered a lot of netizens on social media expressing their disappointment.

During the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs. Rajasthan Royals (RR) match, Harbhajan was heard commenting “London me kaali taxi ka meter tez bhaagta hai, Aur yaha pe Archer sahab ka meter bhi tez bhaaga hai (Like the meter of London's black taxis, Archer's meter has also been on the higher side),” The ‘Kaali Taxi’ reference was used for English pacer Jofra Archer.

However, while fans were expressing their opinions on the matter, Harbhajan not given any statement or apologized on the matter.

Harbhajan Singh faces the possibility of being expelled from IPL 2025 following his alleged racial remark against Jofra Archer. The IPL and BCCI maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy against racism, making his future in the league uncertain.

Meanwhile, former cricketer Irfan Pathan has already been removed from the IPL commentary panel due to accusations of 'personal bias' towards certain players.

Harbhajan has previously been embroiled in controversies, most notably the infamous 'Monkeygate' scandal during India’s 2008 tour of Australia, where he was accused of making a racial comment against the late Andrew Symonds.

Additionally, his IPL career has been marred by the 'Slapgate' incident, where he was banned for slapping Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) pacer S. Sreesanth during a match while playing for Mumbai Indians. With his latest controversy, the veteran spinner could now face another major setback in his association with the IPL.
