MUMBAI: This weekend, Sony Entertainment Television’s homegrown dance reality show, India’s Best Dancer - Season 4, will celebrate the contestants’ near and dear ones in the ‘Apne Special’. Each contestant’s closest family member or friend will support them during their performance and share some sweet memories, making for an emotional watch.
Depicting the harrowing journey of two workers trapped in a coal mine and their struggle to escape, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh’s Nikhil Patnayak, along with his choreographer Ashutosh Pawar, will leave everyone spellbound with their performance to the soulful track ‘Jo Bheji Thi Dua’. Their act was so impactful that Judge Geeta Kapur took a moment to thank all the crew who put in so much effort to bring this spectacular performance to life.
A visibly impressed Karisma Kapoor said, “I would like to inform all the contestants that Nikhil might be the youngest contestant on the show, but he is turning out to be a threat to each of you. Week after week, Nikhil’s understanding of his craft is just getting sharper and I think that’s incredible. Every performance of yours is beautiful, thoughtful, emotional, and unique.” Karisma also goes on to give them her signature, ‘Lolo Loves!’
Judge Terence Lewis also added, saying, “Performing this act was a huge risk. The challenge of performing in a confined space, portraying the struggle of being stuck in a coal mine and the fight for survival, was remarkable. The act showcased exceptional storytelling. As we enter the fourth season of India’s Best Dancer, which blends dance with conceptual storytelling, I must stand and applaud you for your performance. Hats off to this show for delivering exactly what we needed.”
But that’s not all! In conversation with the judges, Nikhil talks about his parents and expresses his wish to have them by his side to support him on this journey. He shared how he always makes sure to call his mother before every performance for comfort and encouragement. Little did he know that his wish would come true as Nikhil's parents surprised him by coming on the show. They shared how proud they are of their son, highlighting his ability to balance his studies while dancing like a pro. Moved by his story, Karisma Kapoor will speak about her own experiences, recounting how she used to call her mother before every shoot for support. She will particularly recall a significant moment during the filming of 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai,' when she was performing alongside the legendary Madhuri Dixit, and how her mother's comforting words during that time meant the world to her.
This weekend, tune in to Sony Entertainment Television for the ‘Apne Special’ on ‘India’s Best Dancer – Season 4’ at 8:00 PM.
